Summer/Fall 2023 LSUS New Student Orientation
New Student Orientation (NSO) is available for all incoming freshmen and transfer students. First-time freshmen enrolling in the Summer or Fall 2023 semesters are required to attend before registering for classes. NSO requires a small registration fee of $20 per attendee, which can be paid using cash, check, or card at NSO check-in. Though attendance is mandatory for all first-time freshmen, it is strongly encouraged for transfer students. If these dates do not work with your schedule, please contact us and we will work around your schedule.
Parents and guests will not be allowed to attend NSO sessions with incoming students.
NSO is a great opportunity to prepare for the college experience at LSUS. Not only do incoming freshmen and transfer students interact with other new students, but they also get to meet current students who can share their experiences at LSUS. Attending students will benefit from individualized assistance with class scheduling, getting to know where things are on campus, learning about student life, and preparing for their first semester of classes.
All first-time freshmen are required to attend NSO. Though transfer students are not required to attend, it is highly encouraged.
All orientation sessions begin with check in at 8:00 a.m. and end in the afternoon at approximately 3:00 p.m. (ending times may vary).
No, this is a student only event. We ask that no parents or guests come to NSO.
The cost to attend is $20.00 per person attending. The fee should be paid when you register for the event.
Please bring a valid picture ID.
We encourage students attending an orientation to dress comfortably. In the summer months, it is quite warm outside, and we will be taking a tour of the campus. Most of your time is inside, a light jacket may be preferred.
If you intend to register for classes for Summer 2023, you will need to attend the April NSO session.
